Case Studies
A client needed to make modifications to their existing product line and upgrade their manufacturing process to CNC cutters. No CAD drawings existed of their products. We scanned their existing products and created CAD files with the modifications. We supplied fully editable feature trees for their future use. Their new line was manufactured using CNC cutters reducing costs during the upgrade process.
A client required a small artist clay model to be replicated from just a few inches to over 15 feet and CNC cut. We scanned the artist’s model, resurfaced the scan, then rescaled and manufactured directly from the scan. This saved the client time and money creating casts and molds to achieve the 15-foot size for the CNC cutter.
When a client needed to compare a portion of an 80-foot boat hull against the original design, they called us. We flew to the boats location in Asia, scanned the required section of hull. The boat was released from dry dock quickly with minimal operational disruption, saving the client the high cost associated with downtime.

January 2011 RnD Precision Imaging teams up with NDI

February 2011 RnD Precision Imaging supports local community projects.
The Okanagan Historical Society is working with a local artist to create a public, life-sized, bronze sculpture of Father Charles Pandosy. The downsized model was digitized and then reproduced life-size for the bronze casting process. The statue will mark the entrance of the city of Kelowna and celebrate the 150th anniversary of establishing the first Euro-Canadian settlement in the Okanagan. The highly anticipated public unveiling is scheduled for 2012. RnD Precision Imaging is proud to provide assistance and support to this BC community project.
March 2011 RnD Precision Imaging now offers CT Scanning
RnD Precision Imaging has teamed up with FP Innovations CT Scanning Center to provide non-destructive CT scanning. This premier facility located in Vancouver, BC provides the most powerful and versatile CT scanner in North America. Its X-ray capacity serves the needs of industrial sectors including metal fabrication, archeology, automotive, aviation and composite materials, etc. These scans are used to identify internal features, measure geometry, detect voids or provide a highly accurate 3-dimensional model of the object.
